Privacy policy

The short version

We keep what we need to run your page and show you its analytics. We never store a visitor's IP address. We don't sell data, and there are no ads or advertising trackers on Linksy. Our own pages use Google Analytics; creators' pages never do.

Who we are

Linksy lets creators put all their links on one page and see where their visitors come from. For anything about this policy or your data, write to ritikagotwal@gmail.com.

If you have an account

We keep:

  • Your sign-in details: your email address and your password. The password is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form; nobody can read it, including us.
  • Your page: your username, name, bio, profile picture, links, images, and the colours and styles you choose. These are public: anyone with your address can see them.
  • Messages sent to you through your contact form.

If you sign in with Google

Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We use your email address to know which account is yours and to write to you about it. Your Google name and picture are kept with your sign-in details; they only appear on your page if you add them there yourself. We never see your Google password and get no access to anything else in your Google account. We don't sell this data or share it with anyone, and use it only to sign you in and to write to you about your account.

If you pay

Publishing a page costs $6 once. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, which sells Linksy to you as our reseller. You give your card or other payment details to Dodo, never to us. We keep only a record that your account has paid, with Dodo's payment reference.

Emails from us

We write to you when you ask us to, such as with a link to choose a new password. Until your page is live, we may also send you up to three short emails about the next step, like picking your link or publishing your page. Each one has a link to stop them, and they stop on their own once your page is live.

If you visit someone's page

When you open a Linksy page or tap one of its links, we record:

  • the time;
  • the app or website you came from, when your browser or the link tells us;
  • your country, worked out by our hosting provider;
  • the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer);
  • a scrambled version of your IP address. It is mixed with a secret value before being stored, so it can't be turned back into your IP. We use it to count unique visitors and to stop abuse.

The page's owner sees these as totals and charts in their dashboard. They can't see who you are.

If you send the owner a message, they receive your name, email address and message so they can reply. If you report a page, we keep your reason and any details you add.

Cookies

Two kinds are needed for the site to work:

  • Sign-in cookies, which keep you signed in to your dashboard.
  • A visit cookie holding a random ID, which links a page visit to the taps that follow it so they are counted once. It expires after 30 minutes.

Pages can include videos and music from YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify or SoundCloud. Those players come from those companies and follow their own privacy policies. YouTube videos play from YouTube's reduced-cookie domain.

On Linksy's own pages (the homepage, sign-up and sign-in, these policy pages, payment and your dashboard) we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which buttons people use. It sets its own cookies, and Google receives details such as your device, your rough location and the pages you open. It is never loaded on creators' pages: visiting someone's Linksy page sends nothing to Google. Visitors from the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked first, and Google Analytics only loads if they agree. Its advertising features are switched off for everyone.

Who else handles your data

Only the companies that run the service for us: our database and sign-in provider (Supabase), which stores everything above; our hosting provider, which serves the site; Google, if you sign in with it, and Google Analytics on our own pages; Dodo Payments, which takes payments; and Resend, which sends our emails. They process data on our behalf and aren't allowed to use it for anything else. We don't share it with anyone else unless the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and its analytics while your account exists. Anything you delete from your page, such as a link, is removed along with its click history. When your account is deleted, your page, messages and analytics are deleted with it.

Your choices

You can change your page and username at any time from your dashboard. To get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account, email ritikagotwal@gmail.com from the address you signed up with and we'll do it within 30 days.

Children

Linksy isn't meant for anyone under 13, or under the minimum age to use online services where they live. If you think a child has made an account, let us know and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
